What is an ice pack?
An ice pack is a term that is used to describe some sort of bag filled with some sort of substance that is cold and is usually used to treat a sprain, a bruise, or sometimes even a headache. A regular ice pack is simply a bag with ice inside of it. There are more "advanced" ice packs that have other gel like substances that sell for over $10 at stores. Ice can absorb a high amount of heat before they're hotter than 32 degrees Fahrenheit. the ice pack that i made is very simple to make and also very convenient. It will also last longer than a conventional bag with ice in it.
The ice pack that i made is very simple to make. The only materials and ingredients that i used were water rubbing alcohol and a Ziploc bag but i added food coloring just to give it that classic commercial ice pack look. For this i just measured out one cup of rubbing alcohol and 2 cups of water and put them into the bag and stuck it in the freezer overnight. I made this specific ice pack because i had the ingredients just lying around and it takes little time to make and it's still supposed to work fairly well. The material should be squishy and be able to bend so it can adjust to the shape of the body part or maybe even lunch bag that someone might want to put in .
Making this ice pack was fun because i had never made one before. Before i did this i thought that making and ice pack that worked well would require a lot of steps and expensive things because they're sold in stores at such a high price but now i know that i can make one just as good for a fraction of the cost using materials that are almost in every home around the nation. Of course making the is pack is pretty easy but it takes a couple of hours to freeze in the refrigerator so you should always have one in the freezer just in case you get hurt at home and want to apply something cold on it before the swelling becomes too bad.
Picture of the ice pack that I made. It had somehow gotten a hole in it so i double bagged it in the morning.
